DR THOM is a life member of the Indian Sociological Society and the International Society for the Comparative Study of Civilizations; a sustaining fellow, Society for Applied Anthropology; and fellow, American Anthropological Association (Society for Cultural Anthropology). He has been a contributing editor of Forward Press, India’s first fully bilingual (Hindi-English) news magazine; and an international consultant, The Oxford Encyclopaedia of South Asian Christianity (Oxford Univ Press 2012). He has a sustained interest in the ethical dimensions of comparative worldviews, cultural geo-lifezones, and in developing replicative leaders of integrity, compassion, and justice. In INDIA, he has served as visiting research professor, National Institute of Social Work and Social Sciences Bhubaneswar; and Tirpude Institute of Management Education RTM Nagpur Univ; with lectures, seminars, as well as educational, leadership and community consultations, including: Lucknow Univ, Kashmir Univ, St. Stephens College Delhi Univ, Jawaharlal Nehru Univ, Jamia Millia Islamia Univ, BUCC Guru Nanak Dev Univ Punjab, Indian Social Institute New Delhi, Institute for Defense Studies & Analyses New Delhi, Indian Institute of Advanced Study Shimla, and Din Bandhu|Friend of the Poor Nagpur. In 2007, Dr Thom was Chair, International Buddhist Practices Session, at the bicentennial 2,550 Anniversary Commemoration of the Buddha, in Bodh Gaya (Govt of India Ministry of Culture). His “Mahayana Buddhism: Tipping Point Buddhism” in B. Mungekar (ed.), Buddhism and the 21st Century (Govt of India & Nava Nalanda Mahavihara Univ 2009), was translated into Tibetan by Dalai Lama’s translator.
